Tarot Purpose
So what is tarot all about? Well, most obviously, the tarot is a deck of 78 picture cards, originating in the western world. The cards are divided in various ways. There are twenty two “major arcana” and fifty six “minor arcana.” In the traditional western system, the major arcana have names like “The Fool” and “Judgment.” The minor arcana have vaguely sexual names like “balls” and “cups” and “swords.” In the traditional tarot system, there are also court cards (what I’d call hierarchy cards). These “hiearchy” cards, these kings, queens, pages, emperors and empresses, figure prominently in the traditional western system.
If you ask people what this tarot system is about, most of them would tell you the tarot is some kind a picture card system that you can use to tell fortunes. It is about “divination.” Of course, those people who believe the tarot is about divination will be more or less sympathetic. Some people will stand behind it and say, “yes it is a useful tool for divination,” while others will tell you it is is used by gypsies and old ladies, fruit loops and real kooks for the purpose of fantasy and/or thievery. If you ask me, if you need that sort of thing to help you connect to The Fabric of Consciousness, then tarot is about as good a divination system as any other. People have used everything from pig entrails to tea leaves as part of their “show.” They are all equally valid methods (though not equally tasteful) that veiled individuals may use to communicate with The Fabric of Consciousness.
Not everybody of course believes the tarot is a simple divination system. A few other commentators over the years have recognized the western tarot as some kind of spiritual education system. These people, and there’s a few of them, are more or less vague about the full nature of the “education” you get with the tarot. Generally however, the message you get is that the tarot is some kind of “secret” book of symbols, with some “secret” meanings that you can, if you study real hard and prove yourself “worthy,” get access to. Of course, there’s lots of different versions and lots of different strange (and sometimes twisted) ideas about the nature of the tarot “education system” and the sorts of things you are supposed to learn from it. Most people who take this view will argue that the tarot is some kind of “secret” system of spiritual or evolutionary enlightenment. It is a system that provides “information.” Of course, what that information is about depends on who you’re talking to. If you’re talking to Joe Reader off the street, the information is some kind of secret code to help you become a better person. Others (usually males with access to significant power and resources) will tell you the same thing, but they’ll say it with overtones of hierarchy and control, privilege and exclusion.
As for me, I don’t see the tarot as an education system at all. For me, the tarot is simply one possible implementation of The Book.
And what the heck is The Book, you ask.
The Book is the term I use to describe the collection of planetary archetypes (a.k.a. creation templates) fashioned to control manifestation of the political, social, and psychological systems of this earth. It’s pretty straight forward how this functions. Archetypes from The Book are “implemented” (i.e., manifested) in some kind of physical “container.” In this case the tarot cards. People read the tarot, the images and ideas become part of their thinking process (or as is more likely reinforce ideas that are already present as a result of their earlier socialization processes), and then these archetypes influence (according to my principle as above in consciousness, so below in matter), the manifestation of the physical world around them (and of course the physical world includes the physical unit, and the brain of the physical unit). You may also think of Grim’s stories, many Hollywood movies, and many of this world’s most holy texts as partial implementations of this planet’s “Book.”
In this context, and in my opinion, the purpose of the tarot deck (and any other individualized implementation of The Book) is to influence and control reality by controlling the way the physical unit (that’s your body/mind) thinks about the world. The tarot images and discourse “send a message” (right past the dumb ass left brain and straight to the damaged right brain) that tells us how we should think (and therefore how we manifest) the world. If you’ve studied my Lightning Path Core books you will understand me when I say, the tarot archetypes as they currently exist are not geared towards manifesting a world of freedom, prosperity, and light. Quite the opposite in fact. Current implementations of The Book, including the old tarot systems, all contain archetypes designed to create a world of energetic slavery and creative impotence in the masses, while privileging a few with obscene levels of power and wealth. As explained in detail in The Book of the Triumph of Spirit, these (as I call them) old book archetypes do this by painting a picture in consciousness of the nature of reality that includes ideas which justify, support, and allow for suffering, hierarchy, privilege, and power. Old book tarot decks are easy to recognize. They all have have that “fool” card, and they all make a big deal of trial and effort, judgment, “death” and redemption. If you’re looking at a deck and it includes those concepts. that’s an old world tarot based on an old set of archetypes used, by the Anu, to create The System.
In my opinion, it is time to leave behind old book implementations and instead manifest new systems based on a set of new book archetypes designed to undermine The System and create conditions that support awakening, empowerment, and ascension. On these web pages you will find my implementation of a new book tarot system. My tarot system, the Halo/Sharp system, provides new (and safe!!) archetypes that, when implemented in consciousness, will free you from the chains of The System and allow your body and mind (i.e., your physical unit) to begin a process of healing, awakening, empowerment, and transformation that will leave you standing breathless and with a new view of your full and divine potential.
Using the deck is easy. Just learn the new archetypes and allow them to replace the old archetypes in your consciousness. Seed the archetypes in consciousness! Live with those new archetypes for a while, talk about them, present them as your truth, believe them, and have faith in them. As your intent clears, as you remove archetypal obstacles to your own power and glory, and as the seeds begin to grow and eventually blossom in your mind, your world (and this world) will begin to transform. Guaranteed.

Michael,
I have gone through the entire Halo/Sharp deck and I have to say that it is magnificent!
I studied Tarot using the Ryder/Waite deck, which had to be colored (to put your essence into it), then you had to suffer through the uphill climb that each card represents. Now I did this solely for internal growth, but it felt as if I were being flayed alive. I always questioned the necessity of suffering through each step and having to tame the lion (kundalini), etc. It should have been straightforward.
Your deck exudes positive energy, and I had a true wake-up after just reading what is on this site. I’ve already ordered the book and deck. I feel as if this is redemption. It is positive knowledge without the garbage.
Thank you!!
I am honored by your comments! Thank you.
