The Sun becomes The Promise
Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Like the Lightworker/Hermit card, this is another relatively uncorrupted card. As tarot commentators almost always note, this is a card of happy endings. The archetype is all about happiness, vitality, love, life, fulfilment, and completion. When the meaning is fully exposed, as it is in the Halo/Sharp deck, this archetype literally represents God’s promise that no matter how deeply embedded in the darkness, illusion, and maya of this world we might become, no matter how far “into darkness” we might descend as a result of the imposition of The Veil, when our work was complete a path would be provided back to the innocence, love, light, and glory that was our experience before we made the sacrifice and descended into darkness to complete The Great Work that we volunteered to complete.
Because of the importance of this archetype, and because of the need for a clear message of hope to light the difficult work beneath the veil, the basic message, the promise of a happy return to Eden, was preserved even in the old book. In the old tarot this is clearly seen in the Sun card. This is the promise of Eden returned, the rebirth of Shambhala, the re-emergence of spiritual innocence, and the descent of God into physicality.
In the Halo/Sharp deck, the promise is brought forward with clarity and force. This card represents god’s promise, god’s “covenant” to those who sacrificed and descend beneath The Veil in order to accomplish The Great Work. No matter how deeply embedded in illusion and maya you might be, no matter what your history and, most importantly, no matter what you might have done, a fast path is provided back to innocence, light, and Shambhala.
Whenever you look at this card remember god’s promise to you.
